A redefinition of oriental classics
Inspired by classical Chinese vase silhouettes, the Destiny collection of vases is a fresh interpretation of iconic shapes. A series of four limited edition vases, each is characterized by its striking form, bold motifs and elegant modernity.
Auspicious plants embellish the vase forms in low relief, contrasting with creatures sculpted in three-dimensional form. This unique feature suggests movement and perspective, bringing the compositions to life.
The gourd-shaped Huluping (hulu gourd, ping vase or vessel) features a bee bustling around gourd flowers. In Chinese, the character for bee sounds like the characters for prosperity and bountiful. The long coiling tendril of the gourd vine is a symbol for never-ending good fortune and a prosperous family with many descendants.
The Tianqiuping or celestial vase, is named for its generously proportioned body. A butterfly lands on peony blossoms festooning the vase, both symbols of good fortune and wealth.
One of the most recognizable Oriental vases, the Meiping or plum blossom vase is a vase once adored by the ancient Chinese literati and scholars. A dainty dragonfly alights on the fabled lotus, symbol of nobility, purity and liberation from worldly worries.
Featuring a bat above a luscious peach, the Zhulanping or baluster vase in rich in symbolism. The Chinese character for bat is phonetically similar to that of good fortune, and peaches and their blossoms impart good wishes of longevity, luck and successful business prospects.
Each design is limited to 888 pieces and comes with a specially designed black wooden stand. The serialised number is engraved directly on the bottom of the vase. Each vase is accompanied by a certificate as well as an engraving plate and exquisitely packaged in a tan finished wooden box.
